Mercatus is an innovative data streaming platform designed to connect marketing professionals with user-generated data in real time. By leveraging cutting-edge technologies like Kafka, Python, and Next.js, Mercatus provides a seamless way for users to share insights into their browsing habits while maintaining transparency and user control.
At its core, Mercatus allows users to voluntarily stream their base URL activity and time spent on each site, empowering marketing agencies to access anonymized, real-time insights to refine their strategies. Importantly, Mercatus does not store sensitive information—its focus is on leveraging data streaming, making it a lightweight, transparent, and secure tool for the Telestai ecosystem.
Currently operating in testnet status, Mercatus is actively being built and improved to enhance scalability, functionality, and security. One unique feature in development is a "share system," which tracks contributions from each user via their TLS addresses. This system will calculate proportional rewards for users based on the data they stream, ensuring that future marketing revenue is distributed fairly among contributors.
To get started with Mercatus, you need to install the Telestai Chrome Extension, code-named Zeroa. Follow these steps:
- Download the Zeroa extension from the GitHub releases page.
- Extract the ZIP file to a directory on your computer.
- Open Google Chrome and navigate to
chrome://extensions/. - Enable Developer Mode by toggling the switch in the top-right corner.
- Click on "Load unpacked" and select the directory where you extracted the extension files.
If you have installed the Zeroa extension in the past, please ensure you have saved your seed phrase. If you are a new user, generate a seed phrase to activate the extension. Head over to the capture tab. Zeroa offers local capture to show your own stats, but checking the box for stream data will forward that information to Mercatus.
Note: This is an early opportunity to view our prototypes while we build them. The system is not yet ready for generating revenue, but we welcome your feedback as we continue to develop these features.
